The Role

As Commis Chef you will actively work to develop your food skills and knowledge within the kitchen brigade, helping and assisting as required. You will support across all food preparation areas, including conference and events, hotel restaurant, bar food and breakfast service, and will help the company to ensure consistent, high quality food products are provided for all guests.

The Person

  • Previous experience within a hotel kitchen.
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and prioritise needs.
  • Ensure high standards for Food Safety are adhered to throughout the site.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Able to work a variety of shift patterns including breakfasts, evenings and weekends as required.
  • A variety of contracted hours are offered for this role

Key Responsibilities will be to:

  • Exercise proper control of company stock and property and ensure correct and safe storage of food stuffs, including effective date labelling.
  • Prepare kitchen equipment for use.
  • To prepare, cook and serve food, as advised by senior chefs, ensuring that the highest possible quality is maintained to the agreed standard.
  • Ensure you deliver in all aspects of Hygiene and Health and Safety, working within the company Food Safety guidelines.
  • Accept and store early morning deliveries, checking temperatures and matching delivery notes.
  • Prepare mis-en-place for all relevant menus.
  • Ensure correct portion control as instructed by Head Chef.
  • Operate and clean equipment correctly and safely adhering to cleaning and maintenance schedules.
  • Adhere to all regulations in respect of hotel policies and standards, i.e. mandates and food standards.
  • Provide cover for the Breakfast Chef during holidays or sickness.
  • Ensure COSHH and HACCAP (Food Safety) guidelines are achieved and maintained throughout your shifts.
  • Attend and complete all training scheduled by the Hotel and/or your Head Chef.
